Here's a 1948 travelogue of Chicago with an Edu-Films feel to it. The main landmarks in this tour yet remain some 60 years later while the rest of the city has risen around them.
Next time you're at the Chgo Pub. Library look up a book called Lost Chicago. It's a pictoral history of so many great and wonderful buildings that were lost or demolished in the name of progress, including that Palmer Mansion.
